What does a normal day working for Corecom look like?

My alarm usually goes off around 7am when I get up and get myself ready before I wake the kids up for school (I have 2 girls). I normally make breakfast (lots of coffee for me!) and then pack their school bags. I do the school runs 3 mornings a week so I walk them to school, get home and have another coffee and then log in for work around 9am. If I’m not doing the school run, I log in for 8.30am for our morning meeting so I can have a catch up with the team and set my objectives for the day. No 2 days are the same in Talent Acquisition. I’ll either be headhunting, name gathering, speaking to my network, doing internal meetings, working on my Internal Rec marketing or interviewing and feeding back to candidates or Rec2Recs. I also manage the next stages of interviews with candidates. As I am now fully remote, I’ll take a quick break around 11am to have a drink and a quick snack and then get back to it. I normally take my lunch around 12.45pm and go for a walk to get some fresh air (I’ve just moved to the country so I’m loving being outside). At 2pm we have another office catchup on Zoom. I work part-time so I finish around 2.30pm/3pm and then I’m on the go again to do the school pick up. My afternoons are spent with my girls. I’m ether being Mum’s taxi and taking them to netball, Ju Jitsu, swimming or football or we are doing crafts (we all love art!) or playing at the park. We eat around 6pm and then it’s straight into the bath and bed time routine. When the kids finally go to bed, my hubby and I like to binge watch Netflix series. I’ll get the lunches made and uniforms ready for the next day before we go to bed so it’s normally around midnight! I’m definitely a night owl!

What’s the best thing about working with the Corecom team?

I have worked at Corecom for 3 years now as their Talent Acquisition Manager. I love the flexibility I have to work around my family and the fact the management are so supportive. When I told them I wanted to relocate I was delighted they gave me the opportunity to work fully remote. The people I work with are brilliant. The team all get on so well and everyone feels valued. I love the fact everyone celebrates each other’s success. I feel respected in the business and love to see the team I hire grow and be successful. It’s just a great place to work!

How do you spend those well deserved days off?

We have just bought a new house which we are renovating so my spare time for the foreseeable will probably revolve around that which is very exciting. I am also just about to start a Ju Jitzu class as it’s something I’ve always wanted to try. I spend lots of time with my girls doing arts and crafts as we love art. Last year during lockdown I started painting with watercolours and I really enjoy that and I’ve also started to get into photography. I really enjoy spending time with my friends catching up for coffee and I love to bake. Who doesn’t love cake!

What job would you be terrible at?

Teacher – home school made me realise I just don’t have the patience!

What’s a piece of advice that has stuck with you?

My Dad has always told me since I was little that “If something is meant for you, it won’t go past you” and I realise that this is so true. It’s something I tell my own kids now. ?

What people say about us

What I wanted from this partnership was to be able to take a step back and free me up to focus on my other responsibilities in addition to recruitment. Working with Corecom alone made everything so straight forward. I wasn’t having to chase up several agencies and there was no duplication of candidates. Tunstall was their no1 focus and I trusted them to deliver, which they did. There was noticeable improvements in CV-to-interview and interview-to-placement ratios which was a real pain point before changing the model on how we worked together. Working on a retained basis gave me confidence that extra effort and resource would be put in to filling the roles.
