Why develop a new recruitment model?

We knew that the typical recruitment model wasn’t working for the IT sector and we wanted to get down to the root cause of the problem so, in 2020, we commissioned the UK Technology Recruitment Survey. The results were staggering with three quarters (76%) of hiring managers receiving poor quality CVS. Recruitment companies were failing at the very first stage of the recruitment process.

Other problems identified by the survey included:

What we did

We have a long and fruitful relationship with Tunstall, having worked alongside them on recruitment campaigns for 8 years. However, the team needed to recruit twenty hard to fill technology roles in South Yorkshire and asked us to lead on the campaign. The combination of location and specialism had seen Tunstall historically struggle to attract talent and convert potential candidates from offer to hire.

We launched our recruitment campaign by conceptualising and launching a bespoke employer brand solution for Tunstall Healthcare. This incorporated a slick Employer Hub showcasing available roles and a cocktail of exciting digital content including a suite of professionally filmed and edited Meet the Team, Company Intro and Meet the Manager footage, for prospective candidates.

Tunstall were assigned a dedicated delivery team who were tasked with and succeeded in filling over twenty permanent vacancies across Software Development, Business Analysis & Product, Data, Architecture and Testing, in less than four months.

Bespoke recruitment tools tailored to Tunstall’s needs, were utilised with fantastic results to include:

  • the delivery of multiple interview effectiveness workshops with Tunstall hiring managers, leading to an uptake in offer to-placement ratio of under 50% to over 90%.
  • CV-to-interview ratio improved to 3:2
  • Interview-to-offer ratios increased to 2:1, a significant improvement on Tunstall’s prior experience.
