Operation Christmas Child is an annual charitable campaign that calls on individuals and organisations to fill and wrap shoeboxes with toys and necessities for delivery to a child in need. Set up by Christian international relief and development charity, Samaritan’s Purse, the campaign has to date managed the delivery of shoeboxes to more than 157 million children from across four continents and 160 countries. Reaching children stricken by war, poverty, famine and natural disaster, the shoeboxes bring a little joy during extremely difficult and dark times.

What Corecom do

Corecom Consulting first began collecting and filling shoeboxes back in 2018 so, when BV launched in 2021, we naturally embraced the campaign.

There is something very humbling about Operation Christmas Child – collecting tiny gifts from toy cars and puzzles to everyday essentials such as toothbrushes and bobbles. To know that these items, that we often take for granted, will bring a little happiness to a child, really does give pause for thought.

For us at Corecom BV, we see how the campaign also cements our teams throughout the festive period. We cherish any opportunity to work together with our international colleagues and, joining forces to fill, wrap and send shoeboxes from our different parts of the continent, brings a true sense of solidarity and community.

Statistics

Together, we have collected, wrapped and sent 150 shoeboxes to Operation Christmas Child.

What I wanted from this partnership was to be able to take a step back and free me up to focus on my other responsibilities in addition to recruitment. Working with Corecom alone made everything so straight forward. I wasn’t having to chase up several agencies and there was no duplication of candidates. Tunstall was their no1 focus and I trusted them to deliver, which they did. There was noticeable improvements in CV-to-interview and interview-to-placement ratios which was a real pain point before changing the model on how we worked together. Working on a retained basis gave me confidence that extra effort and resource would be put in to filling the roles.
