Kelly Newton
As Corecom’s Marketing Executive, I help with their brand image and growth, creating content, writing blogs and award submissions, and working with the team to produce plans to hit company goals. I’m also part of the Women in Tech Engagement team, where we champion women in the industry, work with clients to improve their processes, partner with local educational faculties to inspire young women and host award winning WITBoss events.

What does a normal day working for Corecom look like?
I try to wake up at 5:00am but it usually ends up being around 5:30am by the time I drag myself out of bed, and first thing I do is make a coffee and eat breakfast. I grab my work and gym stuff, and walk to the gym for around 6:30am for an hour. I might treat myself to a coconut chai latte from Pret on my way into work, ready for the 8:30am meeting.
Throughout the day I will create content for our various social media channels and website, write blogs and award submissions, meet with the team to see where I can help from a marketing perspective, produce content plans for the coming months, plan any events coming up and maintain relationships with educational faculties as part of our WIT team. When I’m in the office I take advantage of being with the team by having catch ups and going out to lunch (and drinks) with them, we’re right in the city centre so there’s plenty of choice!
When we finish at 5:30pm I walk home, cook dinner, and usually binge the latest series me and my boyfriend have on the go until we conk out at around 10:00pm. If it’s a Friday, the team usually go out for a bev at Salt downstairs or Greek Street, so that’s where I’ll be as I can never say no.
What’s the best thing about working with the Corecom team?
Everyone genuinely wants you to do well, which I think can be very rare, especially in the industry we’re in. I class the people I work with as my friends, which makes working at Corecom so easy, and not to mention fun.
We have a big recognise and reward culture, I’ve earnt bonus’, spa days and Directors awards for the work I’ve done, which is so motivating and makes you look forward to coming into work every day. It’s hands down the best place I’ve worked.
How do you spend those well deserved days off?
I find it difficult to sit still, I always need to be on the go. You’ll find me in the gym, going on city breaks, visiting my family in Chesterfield and Ireland whenever I can, going on long walks and trying out different bottomless brunches with friends. On the occasion I feel like a slow weekend, I’ll pop on a hair and face mask, and watch the latest find on Netflix or Sky.
What job would you be terrible at?
Public speaker – I’d crumble.
What’s a piece of advice that has stuck with you?
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.
What I wanted from this partnership was to be able to take a step back and free me up to focus on my other responsibilities in addition to recruitment. Working with Corecom alone made everything so straight forward. I wasn’t having to chase up several agencies and there was no duplication of candidates. Tunstall was their no1 focus and I trusted them to deliver, which they did. There was noticeable improvements in CV-to-interview and interview-to-placement ratios which was a real pain point before changing the model on how we worked together. Working on a retained basis gave me confidence that extra effort and resource would be put in to filling the roles.
